George D. Hitchcock, a pilot on “Ole Blood N Guts”, wore this type A2 flight jacket. Hitchcock was attached to the 570th squadron of the 390th Bomb Group. The 570th squadron insignia patch, a joker with 4 aces laid behind it, is sewn onto the front left of the jacket. Above the squadron patch is the name plate which reads "LT. G.D. Hitchcock". The name “Ole Blood N Guts” is painted on the back of the jacket. “Ole Blood N Guts” flew 35 successful missions. Its 35th and final mission was to Hamburg, Germany, on December 31st, 1944. The aircraft sustained heavy damage while on the mission and it ran off the end of the runway on its return back to base. “Ole Blood N Guts” was salvaged after this mission.
