Kenneth D. Williams, of the 351st BG, was captured after bailing out of his stricken aircraft, and was photographed wearing this jacket. Soon it became a political pawn for Hitler, who claimed that hardcore criminals were being taken from American jails and trained as air crew, so they could kill innocent German women and children. It became worldwide news, and fostered a much tighter policy on jacket artwork.
